Going to the Children’s Museum and the Zoo were amazing, but Aunt Ruth and Uncle David made the experience even more enjoyable through their positive attitudes and interaction with Lionel.

Aunt Ruth and Uncle David spent a fair amount of time separating the dino and saur for Lionel to say. The day before yesterday, on the trip home, Lionel began to say Dinosaur when prompted. Last night we went to go see “Walking With Dinosaurs” and he loved it. He still says *sona* every once in a while, but now he says dinosaur much more often. Thank you Aunt Ruth and Uncle David for helping us teach Lionel a much longer word, Dinosaur.

It has been over a year since I have posted anything to theColters.com. Things have been flying by. I have been busy with school and Laura now uses Facebook to communicate with people.

Lionel is now 2 years old and about 2 months old. He has really started to pick up on his vocabulary saying things like car, house, puppy, shoe, toes, belly, hat, etc. It is a lot of fun to watch him learn new things. He definitely wants to get it right and continues to try again and again. Lately he has really been working on his colors. He thinks everything is either pink or red the first time around.

While most of his words make perfect sense, some of them are a little different or strange. Here’s a list so that you can speak Lionel

Sonar = Dinosaur

Abbas = Bananas

Diddoo = Finger (This one took us forever to figure out)

I hope everyone is doing good. I will have to get the photos updated some time

Nathan and Lionel had a blast eating their cake. Nathan seemed to be disappointed with the baked goods while Lionel wanted to dive right in and eat it all up.

As part of my degree at George Mason University (GMU) I am required to take some courses that are extremely similar to courses I took in Germany while attending UMUC (European Division). The courses I am currently trying to transfer are:

IFSM430 to IT462 (Information Systems Security)

CMIS140 & CMIS240 to IT207 & IT208 (C++ Programming Classes)

GMU requires me to obtain the syllabus for courses from the year they were taken, and unfortunately that was not one of the things I knew to keep, so I didn’t. It has proven difficult to obtain any documents from the University of Maryland European Division, and I fear I might be unable to. The registrar’s office was extremely unhelpful. They did not offer to look up my information or get in contact with the professor. Instead, they told me that they did not keep that information on file and did not help me.

I have 2 requests for information out there on the ether. One with a faculty member at UMUC in the United States and the other, a request to Professor Frank House, the professor for my classes at UMUC.

Proving difficult, I have continued to attempt to get the required information. I am surprised to find that UMUC ED does not keep the course syllabi. I can only hope that Professor House or the UMUC Faculty can assist me in finding a syllabus for each of the courses listed above.

It has been a blast escaping to Great Wolf lodge in Williamsburg, VA. However, I am looking forward to tomorrow, our last day in the pool, and our return home. It has been very fun and I think Lionel really enjoys the water. I included a video below of a waterslide, and I am going to try my best to get some good video of him in the water tomorrow. He splashes and kicks almost the entire time he is in the water.

The site has now been upgraded to Wordpress 2.5 and the plugins have been revamped. Unfortunately, I had modified a lot of the plugins I used. I have created new widgets that integrate with the products I use, so that if they release a new version, I will hopefully not loose any functionality. One of the biggest things I wanted to get working was the post category section. In Wordpress 2.3 they changed the category structure.

The biggest change however, is the removal of Gallery2 and shift to Flickr. I evaluated both Flickr and Smugmug and decided Flickr was a better choice. Flickr’s unlimited account cost less and has more integration options. I have tried to make it easy for you to find the pictures I have been uploading. Yes, I am going to go back through time and upload ALL of my old photos. Hopefully everyone can view the site.

I’m sorry if you work for the government and can’t view the site. I am investigating options that will allow you to be able to view my pictures by utilizing the bandwidth available on this site.

While the Gallery2 plugin has been removed, the old gallery is still accessible for the time being. It can be accessed at http://www.thecolters.com/gallery2

Thanks!

The first week of October I took off of work at mindSHIFT to work on the house and go to the beach. I still have not updated the pictures, but plan to do put them up this week. I know it is a bit late, but I have been busy with midterms, work, and life. I had a great time at the beach, and I’m pretty sure Lionel liked the water. I’ll let you be the judge when the pictures are posted.

Please don’t be afraid to post a message or drop me a line if I am not updating everything as fast as you would like me to.

I would like to thank Penny and Bob for the wonderful long weekend at the beach. It was a welcome getaway from work of all sorts (work work and house work). I enjoyed relaxing and I definitely needed it. Thank you.
