UMUC European Division (Transfer Woes)

As part of my degree at George Mason University (GMU) I am required to take some courses that are extremely similar to courses I took in Germany while attending UMUC (European Division).  The courses I am currently trying to transfer are:

  • IFSM430 to IT462 (Information Systems Security)
  • CMIS140 & CMIS240 to IT207 & IT208 (C++ Programming Classes)

GMU requires me to obtain the syllabus for courses from the year they were taken, and unfortunately that was not one of the things I knew to keep, so I didn’t.  It has proven difficult to obtain any documents from the University of Maryland European Division, and I fear I might be unable to.  The registrar’s office was extremely unhelpful.  They did not offer to look up my information or get in contact with the professor.  Instead, they told me that they did not keep that information on file and did not help me.

I have 2 requests for information out there on the ether.  One with a faculty member at UMUC in the United States and the other, a request to Professor Frank House, the professor for my classes at UMUC.

Proving difficult, I have continued to attempt to get the required information.  I am surprised to find that UMUC ED does not keep the course syllabi.  I can only hope that Professor House or the UMUC Faculty can assist me in finding a syllabus for each of the courses listed above.

Understanding Religion

After an entire semester of trying to grasp the concept of each religion presented in Religion 100, I am proud to say that some of the things my father taught me as a child obviously remained, and I have done him some justice by earning an A.  84 credits down, God only knows how more I have to go. . . Ok… god and my advisor.

Fall 2006 Semester

The fall semester has been a hard one.  It was difficult for me to stay focused in some of my classes due to the regular boredom that comes with knowing a fair amount of the material already, but I also have endured my professors lectures, the occasional interruptions from work, and am glad another semester is over.

I hate to say it, but Laura was right.  3 classes in the middle of nowhere is just too much for me.  I had to really fight for my grades while trying to get work done on the house.   Now that it is over, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.  The grades are: A- for Networking Essentials, B+ for Intro to Telecommunications, and a B for Advanced Database Management.
