Dinosaur by carlton

After a week long visit to Indianapolis, it’s unfortunately over. I really enjoyed visiting my relatives in Indianapolis. Their warm welcome was greatly appreciated. Going to the Children’s Museum and the Zoo were amazing, but Aunt Ruth and Uncle David made the experience even more enjoyable through their positive attitudes and interaction with Lionel.

Aunt Ruth and Uncle David spent a fair amount of time separating the dino and saur for Lionel to say. The day before yesterday, on the trip home, Lionel began to say Dinosaur when prompted. Last night we went to go see “Walking With Dinosaurs” and he loved it. He still says *sona* every once in a while, but now he says dinosaur much more often. Thank you Aunt Ruth and Uncle David for helping us teach Lionel a much longer word, Dinosaur.

What an update by carlton

It has been over a year since I have posted anything to theColters.com.  Things have been flying by.  I have been busy with school and Laura now uses Facebook to communicate with people.

Lionel is now 2 years old and about 2 months old. He has really started to pick up on his vocabulary saying things like car, house, puppy, shoe, toes, belly, hat, etc. It is a lot of fun to watch him learn new things. He definitely wants to get it right and continues to try again and again. Lately he has really been working on his colors. He thinks everything is either pink or red the first time around.

While most of his words make perfect sense, some of them are a little different or strange. Here’s a list so that you can speak Lionel

  • Sonar = Dinosaur
  • Abbas = Bananas
  • Diddoo = Finger (This one took us forever to figure out)

I hope everyone is doing good. I will have to get the photos updated some time

First Birthday Bash by carlton

This past Sunday we had a birthday party for Lionel and Nathan.  It was a lot of fun.  We had donations setup for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children.  Thank you for your donations.  I’m sure both hospitals will appreciate the donation, and I know it will help.

Nathan and Lionel had a blast eating their cake.  Nathan seemed to be disappointed with the baked goods while Lionel wanted to dive right in and eat it all up.

Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun.  Below are some more pictures.  You can click here to see the entire set.

Pedometer by carlton

Mary Joyce got me a pedometer and today was my first day of full use.  I went swimming this morning and when I came home, I mowed the backyard.  Somehow I also managed to rack up 10,894 steps.  Do any of you have a pedometer?  I was thinking about tracking it per day in a database to track my step performance.

Do any of you use a pedometer?  Do you use something to track your daily results?

Picture of the week by carlton

Laura has started to send out a picture of the week.  I think it is a great way to keep everyone up to date with pictures of Lionel.  I have finally started uploading photos closer to the time that they were taken.  I really like the recent photos I have taken, but I encourage everyone to sign in to flickr and add me as your family or friend.

Laura’s pick of the week was:
